V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Network Engineer for our premier client in Durham, North Carolina. This is a 6+ month contract position in the financial services industry.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Technical Requirements and/or Certifications »

• Security certifications are a plus
• Network security skills: firewall, IPS/IDS, Malware Detection, web filtering, etc.

Education and Experience »

• Solid foundation in routing and switching
• Experience with firewall/security policy or cloud experience
• Previous experience with attack mitigation, design concepts and data protection
• Development/automation experience is strongly desired

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities »

• High-level understanding of infrastructure as Code (IaC)
• Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP, including application knowledge
• Knowledge of routed/routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VRF, VPNs
• Knowledge of enterprise security policy and best practices
• Knowledge of audit processes
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Google and Amazon AWS cloud service offerings
• Familiarity with CI/CD methodology
• Network engineering and troubleshooting skills
• Skilled verbally and with presenting to senior team members
• Ability to work in a team environment

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Job Responsibilities »

• Join our client’s internetwork engineering team and engage in multiple internet and cloud-related projects, providing 3^rd line, complex operational support and problem resolution
• Support the operational teams in handling incident and requests, and collaborate and work extensively with technology partners across the enterprise
• Manage and design highly complex firewall and network environments
• Be responsible for security engineering through use of firewalls, IDS/IPS, various proxy gateway and other network security devices
• Consult with customers on best practices and options
• Troubleshoot issues related to the network or security environment (on-call rotation)
• Document complex technologies and topologies based on security based practices
• Manage life cycle for various technologies within the space (includes vendor management)
• Provide shift-oriented operations support, in collaboration with operations and engineering staff
• Work closely with all divisions to ensure 24x7 availability GNS services
• Assisting in troubleshooting network issues
• Serve as a member of 3rd level engineering escalation on-call rotation
