V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Software Engineer for our premier client in Durham, North Carolina. This is a 6-month contract position in the financial services industry.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Education and Experience »

• A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
• 6+ years of experience in Java/J2EE development, SOA domain, and as a solution-oriented developer
• 5+ years of system analysis and development experience in Java, Spring Batch/Spring Core/Web Services and configuring web containers
• Experience in Spring framework (MVC, AOP, IoC/DI, Boot), RDBMS (Oracle/SQL Server), Web Services (SOAP/REST), RDBMS (Oracle preferred), SQL/PLSQL, CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, uDeploy) and Cloud Patterns (Docker, AWS EC2, Lambda) is a plus
• Experience decomposing existing processes and recommending changes to existing systems design to achieve requirements.
• Experience with design patterns, UML, Test Driven Development, Junit, Jasmine, Karma and Protractor
• Experience with IDE’s Spring Tool Suite and Eclipse, within a UNIX and Windows environment
• Experience writing SQL queries and debugging stored procedures within an Oracle environment
• Agile and Scrum experience is essential

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities »

• Understanding of Docker, cloud-computing/cloud services platforms (i.e. AWS or Azure) is a plus
• Team player, self-starter, collaborative, innovative, and eager to learn every day
• Strong analytical mindset

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Job Responsibilities »

• Assist in coordinating multiple development work streams through integration and ensure architecture is scalable and extensible
• Define, maintain and support Java development environment and best practices, such as Maven, Sonar and other Open Source tools
• Assist in identification, isolation, resolution and communication of problems within the production and nonproduction environment and perform troubleshooting
• Perform code reviews, unit testing and integration testing using Open Source frameworks
• Provide mentorship to junior team members
• Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives
