V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Sr. Database Administrator for our premier client in Durham, North Carolina. This is a 6-month contract position in the financial services industry.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Technical Requirements and Certifications »

• SQL Server certification is highly desirable, but not mandatory

Education and Experience »

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
• 4+ years of experience in E-Business Suite (EBS) R12 (administering, configuring, installing, upgrading and patching)
• 4+ years of experience in Oracle DBA experience and/or DBA experience in other DBMS systems ( MariaDB , PostgreSQL)
• 4+ years of experience in Oracle RAC database administration across multiple platforms, i.e. AIX, Solaris, Linux and Exadata servers
• 1+ year of experience in Oracle database performance tuning using Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid control (OEM 12c), Linux shell scripting, and writing database monitoring jobs in PL/SQL
• Experience in the mutual fund/financial services industry is highly desired
• Experience setting up, installing and managing Oracle replication technologies, such as Oracle GoldenGate and Oracle Data Guard, and performing Automatic Storage Management/Replication using Oracle ASM
• Experience troubleshooting EBS frontend interface, concurrent manager and database errors and performance issues
• Experience with EBS configured with Java Web Start (JWS), Windows10, Java8 and various browsers is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities »

• Advanced skillset in SQL Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO) and using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
• Strong time management skills with willingness and ability to handle multiple projects/initiatives at the same time
• Strong database and infrastructure project management skills
• Self-motivated with strong team, interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to quickly diagnose the problem areas and come up with solutions and/or workarounds

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Job Responsibilities »

• Perform applications database administration (Oracle) functions, including SQL code review, performance analysis, query tuning, database application design, physical data modeling, and developer support
• Work with development teams in database design process and make suggestions/recommendations based on data manipulation needs of the application
• Work with customers on troubleshooting production issues
• Provide database support in all phases of SDLC
• Participate in 24X7 on call rotation schedule for various production support, database maintenance, housekeeping and installs
• Establish database standards for operations, upgrades, migrations and onboarding new applications and/or clients
• Write clear, concise, well organized technical documentation to maintain standards and procedures
• Manage various database infrastructure projects
